National Certificate in Rural Servicing (Level 3)
Key Topics Holders of this qualification will have the skills and knowledge to provide advice on and sell a wide range of agricultural products and services. Topics covered include animal physiology, nutrition and health; crop production; fencing; soils and fertilisers; livestock selling; legislation and the rural servicing industry; health and safety; communication; sales; and stock control.
The qualification has a compulsory section and an elective section where candidates select unit standards that are relevant to the business they are employed in, the main type of farming activity in their region and their career goals.
Duration 18 months
Who should attend? Anyone already working in a rural servicing retail outlet or business in the rural community.
National Certificate in Rural Servicing - Livestock (Level 4)
Key Topics People will learn the skills and knowledge to procure, assess and classify livestock for sale, arrange for sale either privately or by auction, organise their transport to the sales venue and document the transaction.
Duration 18 months
Who should attend? Anyone working in the rural servicing industry wishing to specialise as a livestock agent.
National Certificate in Retail (Level 4)
Key Topics People will learn the skills and knowledge to plan, organise, and manage themselves, and others, in a retail environment. Elective topics include allocating work, computing, on-job training, communication, merchandising, marketing, finance, selling and stock control.
Duration 18 months
Who should attend? Anyone who works in supervisory or management roles in a retail environment.
National Certificate in Rural Servicing (Grain, Seeds and Crops) (Level 5)
Key Topics People will learn the skills and knowledge to determine soil and fertiliser requirements for growing grains, seeds, and crops and to advise clients on their crop selection, inputs, and production.
Duration 18 months
Who should attend? Anyone working in the rural servicing industry wishing to specialise in the area of grain, seeds and crops.
