Key Topics
This industry certificate focuses on the key skills required for possum control. These include health and safety, looking after yourself, use of GPS, first aid and safety when riding a motorcycle or ATV.

People interested in working as a possum controller and those wishing to tender for AHB contracts.
Industry Certificate in Possum Monitoring (Level 3)
Key Topics
The focus of this industry certificate is the set of necessary skills for possum monitoring. These include the use of GPS and residual trap-catch (RTC) index methodology, carrying out field work, first aid and safety when riding a motorcycle or ATV.

5 months.
This training is of interest to:
People interested in working as a possum controller and those wishing to tender for AHB contracts.
National Certificate in Pest Management with strands in Avian Pest Control, Mustelid Pest Control, Possum Pest Control, Rabbit Pest Control, and Rodent Pest Control (Level 3)
Key Topics
This qualification covers health and safety in the workplace, learn to navigate safely outdoors, recognise weather conditions, observe protocol when working on and around farmland, communicate effectively within your team and the public and safely operate motorcycles, special purpose vehicles and all terrain vehicles. Electives topics recognise skills which are specific to individual pest management opportunities.

National Certificate in
Pest
Monitoring (Field Operative) (Level 3)
Key Topics
Learn about designing and analysing results of possum population monitoring programmes. People will have the skills to use statistics and spreadsheets for analysing results, prepare a monitoring report, and design and report results on programmes using a Geographical Information System (GIS).

National Certificate in Tuberculosis (TB) Testing of Domestic Cattle and Deer (Level 4)
Key Topics
This qualification covers knowledge of the National Bovine TB Pest Management Strategy, the disease and how it is transmitted, and requirements for testers. Trainees will gain the skills of preparing for, carrying out and reading TB tests for both cattle and deer, and safe handling of both species.

12 months.
